We hope everyone is having a great weekend! We wanted to end this week sharing some wonderful news. Our very own Han Solo has been ADOPTED! Han and his daughter Leia came to us from Yonkers Animal Shelter. Both underweight, severely matted, and under socialized. They were used for breeding and never shown unconditional love. Understandingly we knew these dogs needed to be shown that people were not so bad. Leia was adopted after a short couple of months to an amazing family. For Han we knew our journey would be longer. He was wary of new people but with some patience this beautiful boy would show his true nature. We made a commitment to him that we wouldn't give up on him like others had done in his past. Our behavior staff worked with him endlessly so that Han could show the world the gentleman he truly is. He excelled through all of his training and was doing better meeting strangers as the days went by. Dogs that need extensive behavior work are often the first on euthanasia list all over the country and even more so when they are as big as Han. Luckily due to our amazing supporters we are able to stick by a dog like Han and give him the loving care he deserved. We made a short video so you can see the very journey Han went on to get to his new loving home. We can not wait to update everyone as he continues to flourish in his new home. We would also like to thank from the bottom of our hearts Han's amazing new family. Cheers to Han and his new family! ... See MoreSee Less

If you have extra time in your day or if you cannot currently own a pet where you currently reside, volunteering allows you to fulfill your need by enriching both your lives and the lives of our dogs awaiting a new home.

Open your home and foster a pet for adoption. We are always in need of foster homes to provide out of shelter care for both dogs and cats of any age – from newborn to seniors. Fostering also allows us to rescue more pets in need, opening up space at the shelter.
